Some comments from my students:

Recently I felt the need to add a new dimension to my fiber art. I chose to explore metalsmithing
as a possibility. Learning to encase rich fibers in precious metals seemed like the perfect way to merge two of my longtime interests,
fibers and metals. Having no background in metalsmithing I realized I could approach learning this new skill in 3 ways. I could read and study on my own, which I think I would find frustrating, or I could enroll in
a degree seeking program requiring several years to complete, or I could find an artesian that is a fine teacher and mentor, who could
inform and encourage me in enhancing my own designs. I knew I needed to get
my skills in metal up to a professional level quickly and in such a way that they will enhance the qualities of my fiber work.
All these needs were met working with Kirk Sklar in his Metal Heart Jewelry studio. Kirk is an accomplished artist, educator, and craftsman. Most importantly Kirk worked with me as we both discovered the techniques that will suit my own needs. If you are interested in metalsmithing I strongly encourage you to immerse yourself in the Metal Heart Jewelry studio under Kirk's guidance and creative instincts.

I found out about Metal
Heart Jewelry on the web when I was looking for a place to learn metalsmithing. I asked Kirk if I could come and look at his studio to get the feel of the place, and he encouraged me to visit. I felt comfortable immediately,
everyone was friendly
and welcoming, and so I signed up for a beginning class in metalsmithing. In my class, I have been able to learn some of the
fundamentals as well as
be creative and design pieces I really enjoy. Every week Kirk helps to build on the knowledge of the week before. I really look forward to going to class every week to build a new piece. My friends all want to know where I get my
jewelry, and I say "I made it!!”

Kudos to Artist,
WHITE BEAR LAKE - I am writing to publicly
thank White Bear Lake native, Kirk Sklar, for adding a wonderful epicenter of learning and creativity to our downtown.
Thanks, Kirk for your easy going teaching style, for sharing your expertise and
love of metallurgy and art with each of us, for your willingness to let us loose at Metal Heart Jewelry. Looking forward to
the next class together.

Kirk,Because of your
student friendly approach, we get as much help, or as much freedom as we could want. That's why I like your classes, and
keep coming back. Beginners leave their very first class with something to wear and show for it. I think that's great!
Little time is wasted with unnecessary formalities. Keep up the good work!

Kirk- Thank you so much! I wanted to let you know that with knowledge and skills that I
acquired at Metal Heart I have finally followed my dream of
starting
my own jewelry design business. The small, hands-on classes and individual attention that you were able to provide was the
perfect setting to
learn new techniques as well as grow and develop
my own personal style. I also appreciate your accessibility and patience with all of my questions even
after I have left the classroom, you have always responded quickly and thoughtfully to anything I have needed guidance with.
Thanks again, I look forward
to learning more from you in the future.
